Last day in Malaysia – The batu caves #September 19

Dernier article photos sur notre séjour de septembre 2019 en Malaisie. Je suis contente d’avoir pu continuer à vous faire voyager pendant cette période compliquée en termes de voyage. Après cet article il ne me restera plus qu’un court vlog à vous poster pour terminer mes articles sur la Malaisie. Ensuite, le prochain article voyage sera sûrement un article sur la France ou sur Bahreïn. J’espère également pouvoir reprendre les voyages cet été autre que notre prochain séjour en France.

Pour notre dernière journée, nous avions decidé de visiter l’une des attractions les plus touristiques de la Malaisie : Les batu Caves. Si vous avez deja faire une recherche google sur la Malaisie vous avez déjà du apercevoir ce temple hindou. Il est localisé juste à la sortie de Kuala Lumpur c’est pourquoi on trouvait que c’était l’activité idéale à réaliser avant de prendre notre vol retour de nuit. Nous y sommes allés en voiture et nous avons adoré notre visite. Les temples hindou avec leurs jolies couleurs sont souvent ceux qui m’interpellent le plus et ce n’est pas ce qui manque en Malaisie. Mais celui-ci est vraiment grandiose avec ses escaliers multicolores et son immense statue à l’entrée.

Last photos about our trip from September 2019 in Malaysia. I’m glad I was able to keep sharing with you some travel contents during theses complicated times. After this article I’ll just have to share with you my last vlog and then my articles about Malaysia will be over. Then the next travel article will probably be an article about France or Bahrain. I’m also feeling very hopeful to be able to travel this summer outside our trip back to France.

For our last day we decided to visit one of the most popular place of Malaysia : The Batu Caves. We may have already seen pictures of this place if you already made some research about Malaysia. It’s located just outside Kuala Lumpur that’s why we thought it was the perfect last visit to do before to get our night flight. We went by car and we loved our visit. Hindu temple always amazed me by how colorful there are. This one is a really must to see with its colorful stairs and its huge statue at the entrance.

Ma robe étant trop courte on m’a prêté un paréo pour pouvoir me couvrir les jambes puis nous avons montés toutes les marches pour rentrer dans les grottes. Le lieu est magnifique ! J’avais entendu dire qu’il était même possible de pouvoir réserver un guide pour pouvoir se promener dans les grottes. Ça aurait pu être top mais on s’est satisfait de la partie gratuite.

En faisant des recherches, j’ai vu que beaucoup de gens préféraient y’aller très tôt le matin pour prendre LA photo instagram sans foule autour mais en ce qui nous concerne, on y’est allés en fin de matinée et on a pas été tant que ça gêner par le monde. Il y’avait beaucoup de monde mais ça restait encore agréable. Je trouve qu’on a quand même réussi à prendre de jolies photos. Vous pouvez également vous prendre en photos avec les pigeons qui sont par centaines devant l’entrée du lien. Personnellement ça m’étonnera toujours car sur Nantes on en a beaucoup et souvent on ne trouve pas ça très propres. Chez vous aussi, il y’a beaucoup de pigeons ? Vous en pensez quoi ? J’adore énormément la photo, ça fait partie de mon plaisir quand je voyage mais je ne voyage pas pour instagram. En tout cas, pendant tout notre séjour en Malaisie je trouve que l’on a pas été gêné par les touristes. Nous avons même parfois eu le sentiment d’être les seuls touristes. Peut-être que c’est parce que nous sommes partis en septembre et que cette période est moins prisée que juillet-aout.

My dress was too short so they gently lend me a scarf to cover my knees. Then we’re able to up all the stairs to get to the caves. It was beautiful. I heard it’s also possible to visit the caves with a guide. It could of be really great but we only need the free part.

When I made some research about this place, most of the people said to go really early in the morning if you want THE instagram picture without people around. We went in the late morning and the crowd was not so bad. There was quite few peoples but the crowd was still nice. I think we still succeed to have nice pictures. If you want you can also take pictures with pigeons around. I also found theses kinds of instagram pictures really weird. I’m from Nantes, a city in France where we have a lot of pigeons and usually, we found theses birds quite dirty. Do you also have a lot of pigeons where you are and what do you think about them ? I love the photography a lot. This is my hobby when I travel but I don’t travel for instagram. Honestly during our whole trip in Malaysia we never really get bothered by the crowd. But maybe it’s because we left in september and most of the people travel during July or august ?!

Dans mes recherches j’avais également entendu dire qu’il y’avait beaucoup de singes dans ce temple et qu’il fallait être très prudent. Comme partout, les singes peuvent être agressifs. Il ne faut surtout pas les nourrir. J’avais même vu une vidéo où des personnes ont été mordu par un singe. Ils ont donc dû se rendre à l’hôpital pour se faire vacciner contre la rage. Heureusement que ça ne nous ait pas arrivé pendant notre voyage en Malaisie. Ce genre d’incident aurait pu nous gâcher nos vacances. J’étais presque déçue car nous n’avons pas croisé de singes pendant notre montée et descente des marches. Tout du long de notre séjour en Malaisie, on ouvrait grand les yeux pour essayer d’en repérer. Par chance, nous en avons vu 2-3 en nous baladant près de l’entrée du temple. En générale, ils se déplacent toujours par groupe donc si vous en voyez un, deux ou trois suivent derrière. On était ravis de voir des singes une dernière fois avant notre retour sur Bahreïn. C’était également très drôle car ils ont voulu voler de la nourriture à une dame. Nous avons beaucoup rigolé mais je ne suis pas sûre qu’on aurait rigolé si on avait été à sa place.

Après notre visite des Batu caves, nous avons passé nos derniers moments dans un grand centre commercial pour pouvoir faire du shopping et nous ramener de derniers souvenirs avant de reprendre l’avion.

In my research I also found out, a lot of monkeys like to walk around the temples. Most of the people say to be careful since monkeys can get pretty aggressive. That’s why you must not feed them. I watched a vlog where someone get bit by a monkey. So they had to get to an hospital to get a vaccine against the rabies. Fortunately it didn’t happen to us. Theses kind of incident can easily spoil your vacations. When we visited the Batu caves I got quite frustrated because I didn’t see any monkeys. During our whole trip in Malaysia we looked everyday, everywhere to try to spot some. And at the end of our visit to the batu caves, we finally saw for a last time some monkeys. usually when you see one, you end up to see 2 or 3 more which follow the first one. This time was really funny because one of the moneys tried to steal someone’s food. We laughed a lot but I think if it happened to us we would of not feel that amused.

After our visit to the batu caves we spent our last moments in a mall. I wanted to do some more shopping and look for more memories before to get our plane back to Bahreïn.

  2. Merci Margot pour ce post très coloré. C’est vrai que cette gigantesque statue dorée à l’entrée est impressionnante ! J’adore tes photos qui montrent l’intérieur des caves (ou grottes) avec ces temples superbement travaillés. Toutes ces sculptures et ces couleurs…. c’est magnifique.     Sad to say goodbye to your travel posts from Malaysia, hopefully you can travel to France and to other places this summer to bring new travel blog posts 🙂 I ran out of traveling blog posts a long time ago haha.

    Loved that every place through your Malaysia diaries is very different, seems that is a country with a lot of interesting and different things to do. Loved that this visit in the Batu Caves is full of colors and details to look at during all the time! Of course I know the sensation of getting up early to catch a touristic attraction with no crowds! Luckily you managed to shot a lot of pictures!

    I totally get your point too about pidgeons, same here in Barcelona as in Nantes, they tend to associate it with dirty but I love seeing them flying above sky haha.

      There is still a video I didn’t post yet about Malaysia and fortunately I made some new travel contents in France and I still have to post some articles about Bahrain.
      Hopefully soon I’ll be back at travelling. I really hope to travel a little bit again before to leave Bahrain.
      Malaysia was really diverse. We did a lot of different things. It’s a really interesting place and it’s totally worth it.

    Ce voyage au temple devait être sympa. C’est dommage pour les singes de ne pas en avoir vu plus mais si c’était risqué, c’était peut-être un mal pour un bien.

  29. What a great adventure to end your trip, Margot! These are beautiful shots! It’s interesting that you had to wear a scarf around your legs. The same is true for the St. Peter’s in Rome. When my sister and I were there, the guards told my sister her skirt was too short. Fortunately, she was able to pull them down enough to hit her knees and they let her in.

    1. Oh yes I heard about theses situations in a lot of other religious places as well.
      Here in Bahrain when we visited the grand mosque we had to wear a voile and be totally covered. Pants were not even allowed for women.

    1. Heureusement j’en ai finalement vu à la fin de la visite. Ce n’est pas plus mal qu’on en a pas vu pendant notre montée des marches car j’avais entendu dire qu’ils étaient parfois agressifs,

  41. Love that you made so many amazing memories during your trip to Malaysia! It is great that you were able to document the experience as well, especially with this being from almost 2 years ago. It is so cool to see the different statues and architecture out there. It is interesting that they thought your dress was short, but it makes sense climbing up all of those stairs.
