Hello !
I’m back today with a new DIY video to share with you how I made the last piece of my Halloween costume : the two-toned dress. To realize this dress I used a vintage pattern I found in Etsy from the 70’s. I made some alterations to the original model because I wanted a more flared skirt and like I used transparent fabrics I needed two layers of skirt. I used a total of 4 fabrics for this dress because I wanted a two-toned dress. I used purple pale organza and a blue tulle with glitters on it. And for the lining I used a purple and a pale blue coton. I’m letting you watch the video just below to know how I made this dress.
And just below the video I’m sharing with you 2-3 pictures of the dress while wearing it as a costume and then others pictures while wearing it in a more casual way. Because of course I didn’t make it just for the costume I’m gonna still wearing it a lot. I think it looks pretty cool with a denim jacket don’t you think ?
Don’t hesitate to let me know what you think of this dress.
Des bisous, xx
Margot

Oh thanks you it’s lovely !
Hello Margot!
Seeing your processes or any other creative process is pretty cool because they show that many pieces have a lot of work behind and that’s an important part of a creator.
When it comes to designing and sewing a garment the effort is double since the conception takes time but also the crafting of that piece. I do not know a lot about this topic but I saw in the video that it was kind of a “puzzle” where you had to put a certain part of the dress and then another part till all the pieces were fitting…. Actually you can notice that in the dress, it has like layers that are very interesting to see and that’s the cool stuff about it, as you said obviously it is not meant to be dressed just one time since it took you a lot of time…. I think it could look good with many other accessories, even for a casual dinner or a fancy party 😀
All the best and excited to see what you’re preparing for halloween!
Pablo
Yes this is definitely similar to a puzzle. I actually love to see how at the beginning it’s just a bunch of pieces and at the end it all get together and become a piece of clothes 🙂
You did an excellent job and i love the two tone style 🙂
