DIY – The Maxi yellow gingham dress

Vous aviez déjà pu apercevoir la dernière robe que je me suis créée dans les photos de nos trois ans de mariage mais ce n’est qu’aujourd’hui que je vous dévoile l’article complet sur cette robe.

Je me suis créée cette robe longue en vichy jaune de A à Z. J’ai fait le patron moi-même et comme pour chaque article DIY je vous explique tout ça en vidéo. J’espère que ça pourra vous intéresser. Comme vous le verrez dans la vidéo, j’ai passé beaucoup de temps à avoir la forme que je souhaitais pour le top. Parfois j’obtiens un résultat sur mon mannequin et finalement une fois que j’essaie le vêtement l’idée n’est pas la bonne. Et, au départ je pensais utiliser moins de tissu dans le jupon pour pouvoir avoir de quoi me faire autre chose avec ce vichy jaune, et finalement j’ai préféré avoir un beau vêtement évasé dont je suis pleinement satisfaite plutôt que deux. Le tissu en vichy jaune vient de Sicile j’ai utilisé presque 2 mètres de tissu pour me créer cette robe en ce qui concerne la doublure j’ai utilisé le reste du tissu jaune que j’avais utilisé pour ma robe arc-en-ciel.

En dessous de la vidéo, je vous partage encore plus de photos avec cette robe. Cette fois-ci je la porte ceinturé. J’ai préféré ne pas trop cintrer cette robe pour pouvoir la porter soit cintré à la taille avec une ceinture soit plus loose. J’espère que les photos et la vidéo vous plairont.

I created this maxi yellow gingham dress from the drawing to the sewing. I made the pattern myself and like always I’m sharing with you all the making process in the video just below. I hope you’ll find it interesting. Like you’re gonna see in the video, I spent quite a lot of times to get the right model for the top. Sometimes I got a result on my dress form but when I tried it on me it doesn’t fit as well. Haha ! Also first I thought I would of use less fabric for the skirt so then I would have some extra fabric to create an other piece of garment but then I preferred to use more fabric to get a super flared skirt and I’m really happy with it. This fabric comes from Sicily. I used almost 2 meters to create this dress. And I used a yellow coton fabric for the lining. It was the leftovers of some of the fabric I used for my rainbow dress.

Just below the video I’m sharing with you even more pictures. This time I wear this dress with the belt. I preferred let the waist kinda loose so then I can wear it waisted with a belt or just loose. I hope you’ll enjoy the photos and the video. 🙂

  1. Hello Margot! I was catching up with the posts of the weekend and suddenly noticed there is one with your latest creation…. so good!

    Sincerely the result looks like something from a really good store, I mean it is so well made and it is nice to see a bit of the process. I suck at sewing and creating cloth pieces and you make it see so cool but I totally understand it has a hard work. Why I like is of course the color but the pattern and the way the cloth falls and moves around, so natural and something that it is necessary if you want to wear it hot or humid climates.

    I like the black lines, it seems like a drawing dress or something like that! That’s beyond cool!

      It’s really flowy but I must admit with the lining it makes me sweat a lot in this weather haha.

    Ta robe est magnifique, j’adore sa coupe en bas façon jupon ; c’est trop joli !
    Je n’avais pas remarqué au départ que c’était un tissu vichy ! C’est frais et ravissant.

  15. I love your dress! The yellow gingham dress is perfectly put together. The color tone looks amazing in that sunset. I know I have issues with fitting into maxi dresses. Love your video – it is so wholesome!! Have a great weekend!
