DIY – Shorts in plaid

Hi guys ! 

Je suis contente de partager avec vous un nouvel article DIY avec le short à carreaux que j’ai réalisé pour aller avec ma veste tailleur que vous pouvez d’ailleurs retrouvé dans cet article ici. Je suis contente du résultat de ce short à plis sur le devant et pinces dans le dos. Pour le réaliser j’ai utilisé un des patrons du burda numéro 186 de juin 2015. J’avais peur de faire une braguette car c’est quelque chose que je ne maîtrise pas et finalement ça s’est bien passé et je suis plutôt satisfaite du résultat. Par contre, j’ai dû faire un tas de modifications sur ce patronage. Je ne sais pas ce qu’il s’est passé dans leur patron mais ça ne correspondait pas du tout à ma taille. Le résultat était tellement grand que j’ai du faire des pinces encore plus grandes et raccourcir le short car non seulement il était grand mais en plus ce n’était pas un short mais plutôt un bermuda. Mais comme d’habitude, Je vous montre tout le processus de création dans la vidéo. Ce short se porte avec une ceinture et je trouvais ça sympa de le porter avec cette ceinture coquillage qui est une ancienne collection Stradivarius. Pour aller avec la ceinture, j’ai marié ce short à un body d’une ancienne collection H&M (mais je crois que cette année ils l’ont ressortit. ), une paire de baskets et un noeud dans mes cheveux. Voila j’espère que le rendu vous plaît. Je suis hyper contente de ce short que je pourrais porter toute l’année, tant en été qu’en hiver avec une paire de collants en dessous ( dans un pays plus froid que Bahreïn ). Et bien sûr j’ai hâte de le porter en costume avec mon blazer. D’ailleurs il me reste encore un peu de ce tissu que je pense essayer d’utiliser pour faire une robe et quand elle sera fini, je pense vous proposer une vidéo de 10 idées de looks avec les trois pièces. Qu’en pensez vous ? 

I’m happy to share with you today a new DIY article with the plaid shorts I realized to go with the tailoring jacket I made here . I’m happy how it turned out. There are pleats on the front and darts on the back. To realize it I used a pattern from the Burda magazine numero 186 of June 2015. I was pretty scared to sew a front zip because It’s not something I master yet but finally It was fine and I’m pretty satisfy with the result. However I really don’t know what happened with this pattern but the size was way too big. I had to modify the pattern by making bigger pleats and darts. And yet it was not just too big it was also pretty long so I had to make it shorter. As usual I show you all the making process on the video just below. Theses shorts have to be worn with a belt and I thought it would be nice to match it with this white belt with a starfish on it. It comes from an old collection from Stradivarius. And to go with the belt I decided to match theses shorts with a bodysuit from H&M.  It’s also an old collection but I think they still have it in their shop. And I accessorized the outfit with a bow in my hair and a pair of sneakers. I hope you’re enjoying this outfit. I’m really happy with theses shorts. I’m sure I’m gonna wear it all year long for summer and winter because I think it’ll even look good in winter with a pair of stocking under ( If was in a colder country than Bahrain of course, haha ! ). And I just can’t wait to wear it as a short suit with my tailoring jacket. By the way I still have some leftovers in this fabric so I’m thinking of trying to also make a plaid dress. And when it’ll be done I think I’ll make a video to share with you 10 looks ideas with theses 3 items. What do you think ?

    Perfect result, they look like a garment straight from a good looking store! I like the result since this kind of print is very versatile and you can wear them with many things: just a top or a t-shirt like this option, a more formal shirt, a blazer, a leather jacket and other endless possibilities.

    It is also good to see the process behind the creation of your pieces, that demonstrates that creating clothes is a full time job and that a good result takes effort 😉

    PS: The detail of the belt is great!

  20. Oooh! I love plaid shorts. They look super trendy and great to pair with so many different tops. I like the pairing with the white belt. Looks super cute. I should look into buying plaid shorts myself. Thanks for sharing!
