On se retrouve pour la deuxième moitié de notre cinquième journée en Malaisie et notre première journée sur Penang avec la découverte de George town. J’ai préféré diviser cet article en deux pour cette fois-ci partager avec vous notre tour en trishaw ou tricycle ? Je me demande quel terme est le bon pour décrire ces sortes de vélo-taxi très touristiques. Je pensais trouver des trishaws partout à George town et finalement on en a pas croisé tant que ça. Mais ça nous a été vraiment utiles de faire une balade en trishaw pour pouvoir nous diriger dans cette ville. Car comme je vous le racontais dans mon article précédent, on avait beaucoup de mal à savoir où aller malgré des cartes et google map. Nous avons donc pris un trishaw pour nous montrer tout le street art et autres monuments qu’il y’a à voir à George town. Il faut savoir que cette ville est surtout très populaire pour son street art. Je trouve que les graffitis ont vieillit mais d’un côté ça donne un certain charme à la ville et j’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à les prendre en photos.
I’m back today to share with you the second half of our fifth day in Malaysia and our first day in Penang with the discovery of George Town. I thought It would of be better to divide this article in 2 so this time I could share with you all the street art of this city we discovered during a tour in trishaw. I thought we would of met a lot more trishaws in George Town and at the end we didn’t see that many in the city. But it was very useful to not spend hours not knowing where to go to see all the street arts. Because we’re struggling to know where to go even with a map and google map ! This city is pretty popular for its street art. Now I think it gets a little bit faded even if they added some new ones. But I think it gives a certain appeal to the city.
Je vous avouerais d’avoir eu un peu honte de se faire pousser par ce pauvre monsieur mais nos pieds nous ont remercié. Notre voyage en Malaisie était loin d’être reposant et c’était chouette de se laisser transporter pour visiter cette ville. Bon ce qui est moins cool c’est que je pense qu’on s’est un peu fait avoir au moment de payer. Au départ, le prix était fixé et ce qu’on a mal compris c’est qu’il était fixé à l’heure. Donc nous avons payé le double de ce qui était annoncé. Donc faites attention au scam si vous prenez un trishaw à George town. On était fatigués, on a pas eu envie de négocier et ça ne nous a pas non plus compter un bras, mais sur le moment on était pas hyper ravis haha.
We’re feeling pretty bad for this man to push us but our feet were really pleased ! Our trip in Malaysia was not a very relaxed one so it was cool for once to just let someone guides us. It was really cool until the end when we discovered the price we agreed at the beginning was actually a price per hour. That’s why I think we get scammed. So be careful if you want to take the trishaws in George Town. We’re tired and we didn’t want to negotiate a better price. It was not that expensive neither but we’re not so pleased about it.. Haha !
Sur le retour à notre hôtel, toujours en grab, nous nous sommes arrêtés dans un centre commercial. Avec hubby on a presque une passion pour les centres commerciaux. Il faut dire qu’à Bahrein c’est tellement cher qu’on était ravis de faire un peu de shopping pendant notre voyage en Malaisie. Il me fallait absolument une nouvelle carte SD pour mon appareil photo et j’ai croisé un Monki, un de mes magasins préféré donc j’en ai profité pour m’acheter 2-3 nouveaux habits. 🙂
On our way back to the hotel we stopped in a mall. With hubby we love malls and in Bahrain it’s expensive so we’re really happy to stop in malls during our trips to do some shopping. I really needed a new SD card for my camera and I saw a Monki, one of my favorite shop so I had to stop to buy 2-3 new clothes haha.

What a great way to see the city! It’s so nice that you paid him double the price. We took a rickshaw ride in Japan once and we felt bad but it is also such a great way to travel and also support the local tourist economy.

I loved to discover a second part of George Town but sad to read that you guys get scammed, unfortunately this is something that could happens to us even in another region of the country we live 🙁 So when I go outside I try to double check, but sometimes it is impossible.
Anyway it seems that you have a great experience in this area! I love the explosion of colors and all the graffitis, they are so creative and urban art is another great way to discover a culture right? Very creative photos indeed!
PS: I didn’t know going to a mall in Bahrain was expensive, how curious :O

Yes the shopping is a lot more expensive in Bahrain. It’s crazy to look at the different prices for the same item at Zara or H&M following the countries.
It’s not much but a tee-shirt at H&M can cost 5 dollars more here.
Fortunately I have an American adresse and that’s how I tricked them to get my affordable clothes here haha.
But I miss shopping at the mall at a decent price ha.
