Hi guys ! 

Je suis heureuse aujourd’hui de partager avec vous les photos de ma robe vichy que j’ai réalisé il y’a déjà quelques semaines maintenant. Elle m’a même accompagné en Malaisie.  Comme le top blanc, je n’ai pas du tutoriel à vous proposer car les pièces de cette robe ont été coupé il y’a un moment. Mais promis la prochaine fois il y’aura un tuto. Cependant j’ai dû faire quelques modifications par rapport au modèle que j’avais coupé : Ajuster la longueur des bretelles car initialement je souhaitais des bretelles qui se nouent entre elles et ajouter des pinces à la poitrine pour ne pas que ce soit trop grand. J’ai également du refaire toute la jupe car je voulais une jupe évasée : Pour cela rien de plus simple j’ai coupé un rectangle que j’ai ensuite froncé et comme pour le top j’ai créée une boutonnière car je voulais une robe avec de gros boutons en bois à l’esprit un peu vintage.

I’m so happy to share with you the pictures with the gingham dress I realized few weeks ago now. I was so happy to have this dress with me in vacations in Malaysia. Just like the top I shared with you last week unfortunately I don’t have a tutoriel as the pieces I used to make this dress have been cut a long time ago. I just didn’t take the time to sew them together before. But next time I’ll share with you every steps in a tutoriel for the next sewing project I’ll make. For this dress even if the fabric was already cut I had to make some alterations : Add darts to the bust as it was at first too big and make the straps shorter as there were at first too long and when I cut the fabric I wanted to be able to tie the straps and make a bow.   I also had to cut a new skirt as the previous one was not enough flared and too small. To make a flared skirt I just cut a big rectangle in my fabric and then I gathered it. I just made it really simple. And just like the top I made before I wanted to add some buttons to create a buttoned dress.

Je suis plutôt satisfaite de cette robe même si il aurait été préférable d’ajouter du thermocollant à la boutonnière. Le thermocollant pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas est une sorte de tissu qui se colle par le repassage et qui est très utile pour solider certaines pièces d’un vêtement et éviter que certaines pièces ne se déforment au lavage. Malheureusement le thermocollant que j’ai en stock ne tient plus après un lavage mais j’ai une commande amazon en cours avec je l’espère un thermocollant de qualité donc il ne sera pas trop tard pour en rajouter en dessous de ma boutonnière même si à l’intérieur de la boutonnière ça aurait été plus « propre ». Sinon j’ai mal calculé l’emplacement des boutons et à la taille la boutonnière ne reste pas en place. Mais je me suis rend compte dans mon placard que d’autres robes au même modèle que celle que j’ai réalisé n’avaient pas de boutonnières totalement plates, sans « vagues ». Tant pis j’apprends de mes erreurs et je suis tout de même satisfaite de cette robe. Je l’aime vraiment beaucoup ! Ça fait très longtemps que je voulais une robe vichy de ce style et l’avoir fait moi-même ça me rend vraiment très très heureuse.

I’m pretty happy how this dress turned out even if it’s not 100% perfect. It would of be better to add interfacing to the buttonholes. If you don’t know what is interfacing it’s some kind of fabric which is usually fusible so you can iron and stick it to certaine pieces of the cloth so theses pieces will get more thick and won’t get modify after washing this cloth. Unfortunately the interfacing I have isn’t sticky anymore but I have an order of interfacing coming up soon so maybe I’ll be able to add the new interfacing behind the buttonhole of this dress. It would of be better inside the buttonhole than behind it as it’ll be more clean but I think if I put it behind it’ll work just as good. The other thing I regret is I didn’t put the buttons at the right place so at my waist the buttonhole doesn’t stay flat if you understand what I mean. But I didn’t feel as bad when I realized the same buttoned dresses I have in my closed are not perfect neither and it’s not the dresses I made but the ones I bought. The good thing is when you made mistakes it’s when you learn so I’m still really happy with the dress I made. I love it a lot ! It’s been a while since I want a buttoned gingham dress like that and I’m gonna admit I’m even happier I made it myself.

    Ta robe est ravissante et tu la portes à merveille. Jusqu’ici je préférais l’imprimé vichy en couleur, mais je dois avouer que le vichy noir de ta robe associé au camel rend vraiment très bien ! Bravo ! Des bisous

    As usual I think you are very loyal to your personal style and all your pieces surely make a great collection. This dress is perfection and I bet it is the perfect item for spring-summer and even for those autumn evenings when cold is not too present, actually I imagine you wearing it with many jackets.

      Yes I can see a lot of other combinations with this dress but right now it’s still really hot in Bahrain to wear jackets.
